Most people message me saying they hate having their photo taken. Genuinely, it's probably the first thing half my clients say. And that's fine, I'd rather know upfront than have someone standing in front of my camera looking like they're waiting for a bus.

The reason most people hate it is that most portrait sessions are a bit of a nightmare. Too posed, too formal, someone telling you to just relax while pointing a lens at your face. Which as it turns out doesn't help.

I do things differently. We'll have a quick chat beforehand, pick a spot that actually suits you, and get on with it. No fuss. No awkward posing. Just proper photos that look like you on a good day.

Before we shoot, we'll have a five-minute chat nothing formal, just enough so I know what you need the photos for and you know what to expect. Then we find a spot and get on with it.

Hampshire Locations for Portrait Sessions

Lee-on-Solent Seafront

The light off the Solent goes this warm copper colour about 45 minutes before sunset. Properly good for portraits. Park on the side streets behind the high street and walk down.

Stokes Bay

Quieter than Lee, nice backdrop, plenty of space. Worth knowing about if you want a beach feel without the weekend crowds.

Wickham Woodland

Fresh green canopy in spring, dappled light in summer. Light filters beautifully on overcast days — overcast is honestly better than full sun.

Portsmouth Hot Walls

Historic fortifications with a mix of old stone and open water. Strong, distinctive backdrop that's different from the usual coastal look.

Portchester Castle

Castle, beach and open fields. One of the most versatile locations in the area for a range of looks in a single session.

Questions People Actually Ask

Essential is 30 minutes, Premium is an hour. The 30-minute session is enough for most people, we move quickly and get a lot done in that time.
Essential includes 10 fully edited images, Premium includes 25. You choose from a private gallery, I won't just pick for you.
Wherever makes sense for the look you're after. I know good spots across Hampshire and I'll suggest options based on what you want. You can also pick somewhere meaningful to you.
Within a week. Usually sooner.
Something you actually feel like yourself in, not what you think you should wear for a photoshoot. Avoid really busy patterns. We can chat it through beforehand if you're unsure.
It won't be. Most of my clients say exactly that before we start. A relaxed session with a bit of direction is completely different from what most people have experienced before.
